Cute factor
Posted in Lily on 05/31/2009 08:08 pm by JinxyWaldo randomly wrote on our shopping list the other day “Lily: cute factor 10 to the 10th power”. I thought that was really cute.
I felt like there was a serous lack of Lily pictures lately.

I was waiting to post about Memorial Day because my friend was suppose to be uploading more pictures. Oh well I’ll just post those some other time. I need to get this out of my head before I forget about it.
On Sunday we had lots of help cleaning our old house. I was in charge of Lily (like usual) so I was very little help. Waldo and our friends did a great job, if it weren’t for the spiders and the smallness of the place I would have reconsidered moving.
After cleaning was all done we went to another friends house and had a little bar-b-q. Let me just say that its so nice having chefs for friends. We had amazing spicy chicken and steak sandwiches. And of course all the sides.
But really its about the pictures. So without further ado…
This is my friend *Jack (I forgot to ask if I could use real names so I’m using nicknames, I did remember to ask if it was ok to post the pictures, Yay me). I took what I think is a much better picture but he made me swear to use this one.

Jack is a chef at one of the local famous restaurants. He made mean steak sandwiches (I hear, I don’t eat steak).
This is Big Mac. He is a chef at the golf course restaurant.

He made the amazing chicken.
This is my man (Waldo). He cooks for us but for a living he is a geek.

This is B and R. B works with Jack and R is Jack’s girlfriend.

Here’s Jack’s dog Apollo

Chicken. Yum!

In Hawaii, Aloha Friday is the day that we take it easy and look forward to the weekend. So Kailani thought that on Fridays she would take it easy on posting, too. I like the idea, therefore, I’ll ask a simple question for you to answer. Nothing that requires a lengthy response.
What is your go-to easy quick dinner?
Ours is a salad and soup (canned) but I’m always looking for better and more healthy ideas.
Mommy Melee started Girl Talk Thursday. Go show her some love and check out Mr. Linky. This week we are talking about lingerie.

This week we are talking about our make up regimen.
Before I had Lily I had a very simple routine and I did it everyday. I had used Bare Minerals for about two years and I loved the lightness of it. I used the base foundation kind of thing, the Mineral Veil finishing powder, light blush, eye shadow, liner and mascara. It sounds like a lot but it only took about 7 minutes or less.
Since Lily was born I think I’ve worn make up twice. I just don’t have time to deal with it.
After the grass was mowed we needed to eat so what do we decided to do? Break out the brand spanking new bar-b-q grill. We hadn’t even taken it out of the box yet, so Waldo spent like 20 minutes putting the thing together.
Who knew the thing has so many parts?
(Sorry for the blurry photos, its hard to stand still and take a good picture when you have a wiggly infant in your arms)
All done. Its a thing of beauty, or something like that.
We used lump charcoal which I didn’t get a picture of and a charcoal chimney. Which were both my suggestion, Waldo was against them at first. I mean what’s more manly then briquettes and lighter fluid? Nothing that’s what! But I won because I had Alton Brown on my side. We even watched the grilling episode of Good Eats before we started.
Waldo was very impressed with the chimney. It heats up the charcoal in like 15-20 minutes and its ready to go. Of course I was in the house nursing Lily so I didn’t get a picture of the hot coals in the chimney.
These burgers were great, they were seasoned with salt, pepper and little garlic flakes.
Our side dish
Cut grass, yummy food and hanging out as a family. It was a great family day.
This weekend we had planned to finish moving out of the old place and cleaning it. Unfortunately Waldo had to work on Saturday so packing and moving got pushed back to Sunday. We decided to take advantage of the time we had to spare on Saturday and Waldo did some grown up manly Daddy stuff.
First he mowed the back yard. It needed it much more then the front.
We just bought the mower so he had to do a few test runs to get the right weed grass height.
While he adjusted the mower Lily and I looked around the yard and found these cute tiny flowers.
Here are the three test runs Waldo did. I believe he went with the second height.
And here is the finished yard.
Lily was 1 week and 1 minute old in this picture. It seems like such a long time ago.

This last one is from her 5 month birthday.
I won a personalized growth chart from A Psych Mommy and got it just in time to start using it at her 5 month point. As you can see we have a little way to go before I can start marking her height on it.
Dear Lily,
Today you are 5 months old. It is just amazing to me that 5 whole months have pasted since you came into our lives, but I can’t remember life before you either. You are just such a part of day to day life for your Daddy and I and we have such a good rhythm with you now that 5 months seems perfectly feasible.
I really hope that month 5 is more calm then month 4 was. Lets see you got more or less diagnosed as failure to thrive, put back on a few ounces of formula a day, had a CT scan, blood drawn from both arms, we’ve moved, you really started to talk, you helped me celebrate my first Mother’s day, you figured out what your hands do and I’m sure there were a couple of things I forgot. Boy I’m warn out.
Oh yea your blew a few raspberrys.
You can keep up with the milestone stuff but this house and medical stuff is for the birds.
You seem to be under the impression that once you do something twice you never have to do it again. You won’t roll over for me no matter what now, but I have pictures of you doing it in the past. You blew 2 raspberrys and won’t do it again no matter how hard Daddy and I try to get you to. Please for my sanity get over this twice is enough mind set.
I swear you are on the verge of laughing I just haven’t figured out how to send you over the edge. Every once in a while you will make this crazy sound like your sucking in air really hard with a big grin on your face and I just know that some day that will be a big belly laugh. You don’t seem to be ticklish so trying to tickle you just pisses you off. Peek a boo don’t do it, when I put a blanket up to block me from you or bend down and pop up and say boo you just look at me like you knew I was there all along and don’t know why I bothered. Please help me out and tell me what to do to make you laugh. Please!
I love you Sweet Girl,
Mommy

Do you ever take your wedding off?
I guess this question kind of excludes some people so if you aren’t married what do you think you would do?
Me; I almost never wear mine. That’s because I only wear it when I leave the house. I don’t like to wear it at home because I have to take it off to wash my hands anyway (which I am doing every time I turn around). Also I don’t want to scratch Lily with it. I love my ring, my Hubby did a great job picking it out. I wish I could wear it more often but its not practical.
