Before Lily was born I knew that I want to be a babywearer. I mean come on who wouldn’t want to keep your baby as close as possible but still have my hands free to do things? Its the best of both worlds.
I bought a Hotsling, took it home and it didn’t really fit. So I took it back and ordered a Moby Wrap off the Internet. Once I got the hang of wrapping myself up in it the Moby was great (in theory). Lily will tolerate it occasionally. She prefers to face out so she can see what’s going on around her. I don’t feel she has good enough head control to be in the wrap for too long that way. Not that she wants to be in it for very long. I was starting to loose hope.
I stopped by our local baby consignment shop to see what kind of carriers they had. I had thought maybe a ring sling or something like that would be good. The nice sales lady (possibly the owner) showed me one she was really excited about and it was a great price. It was very colorful, possibly too colorful for me. I looked around at what all they had and decided that colorful one was going home with me. It was $18 and I had another item to exchange so it didn’t cost me anything out of pocket.
I took it home and washed it. While I was hanging it to dry I noticed the brand and a website listed. So of course I went and looked it up. It was a Kozy Carrier. I couldn’t believe it when I saw the price. A new one is $89 plus shipping. I would have preferred the natural colored straps over the black but I got it for such a good price I can’t complain.
Between the instructions and videos on the website I was pretty easily ably to get Lily in it. I’ve worn it around the house I think 4 times and she usually put up with it as long as I keep moving. For at most 30 minutes, but its better then nothing. I think once I can take her for walks in it she will like it much more. She still wants to face out but I feel more comfortable in the Kozy then I did in the Moby.
I’m still not an experct at wearing it but I’m getting better.
Please excuse the fuzziness of those pictures. I love Lily’s expressions so these had to be used.
While typing up this post I found this site. It looks like a great babywearing resource.
There’s also http://www.babywearing.com/, which has a forum as well!
I’m using a Baby Bjorn with Maia, and she loooooves it. It is a bit frustrating to get her into it sometimes, especially if she’s fussy, but we work it out alright 🙂 I’ve always kept her facing out in it, because I just think it’d be soooo boring and un-stimulating to her to be facing in (also, when she’s facing out, more people can see her and compliment me on how beautiful my baby is!)
I love Lily’s expression in this one too. And hey, I like the new layout as well! (At least I’m assuming it’s new? because I don’t remember seeing it ever before? but I usually read you in Google Reader so I may be wrong…)
What an awesome price! Way to go!!!
How cute! My daughter is the same way – she doesn’t like it if I stand still too long, lol. And she never liked the other carriers I tried that didn’t allow her to see out.
That carrier really does look cozy. 🙂 I’m so glad you found it, what a great find!
Oooh, I just looked it up and love that you can wear the baby on your back! 🙂 Course I like to see my baby… but it looks so cute carrying them on your back, lol.
She looks so comfy and cozy in that! We tried the Peanut Shell, but I never did get used to the sling style so we switched to the Beco and the Ergo
Hey thanks for the comment. 🙂 I wasn’t sure if that was too whiny of a post or not, lol. It’s really HARD to deal with, though! I guess I can get away with it, I’m not the type that vents regularly on my blog anyway. Now everyone knows I’m human too. 😉
Maybe all of this is really denial of my baby growing up… I don’t even believe she’s big enough yet, part of me still thinks she’s my little newborn. hehe I think I need to prep myself for the rest of life, because this is just the beginning!
The good thing is that it’s amazing to see her growing and developing her own attitudes and preferences, etc. Plus even though I won’t be able to connect that way forever, I’m connecting in new ways – I’ve noticed that she’s coming over just to cuddle with me sometimes and she loves to make me laugh. So you’re right, it’s all totally bittersweet. 🙂 Mostly sweet. 🙂
my son loved his carrier and so did I he liked to be held a lot it was a lifesaver.
That is AWESOME! I love that carrier!

Lily’s expression in that last one is especially priceless. She looks curious and happy and uncertain all at the same time. 🙂
Wow — gorgeous colors! And what an adorable baby. I’ve long coveted a Kozy. I think they look just wonderful. Hope you enjoy your find!
That is so cool looking. I love my moby but then my daughter really likes facing in and mostly we use it when she is tired but will not or cannot sleep in her crib. 🙂
