My newest kick is making yogurt. I found a nice yogurt maker at a thrift store and my obsession started.
Since we don’t give Lil cow’s milk I started out making rice milk yogurt, that didn’t work so well. Next I tried almond milk yogurt, sill nope. So we decided to try cow’s milk. I mean we give her regular milk yogurt all the time, I just thought it’d be nice to cut out that one last bit of cow’s milk. I can’t be upset about this cool milk container though.

Here’s the milk cooling in the water bath.

The yogurt is still in the maker so I have no idea if it’s going to work or not.

Even though I posted a video of Lil enjoying her french toast I had to include this picture.

We made valentine’s day cookies this week.

Lil insisted that we have lips for valentine’s day. In order to get the lips I had to buy a set with a mustache and glasses. Lil loved them.

The Valentine Princess is busy at work icing cookies.

All the best Valentine Princesses have bunny tails.

Some of our finished cookies.

Waldo wanted a mustache cookie, I traded him for a picture. We decided that he’d make a great cartoon villain. 🙂

Together

Today we all three went to get our hair cut. I was talking with the stylist while she was cutting Waldo’s hair and I was reminded of something; Just how lucky we are.

Both Waldo and I work from home, I know, majorly lucky. I’ve worked from home since Lil was about 6 months old and Waldo has since we left Montana almost 4 years ago. Lily has no idea what it’s like to want to show her Daddy her latest drawing and he’s not around to see it. Lucky!

The stylist asked a question about Lily playing with her Papa (Waldo’s Dad) while we worked and I replied that he doesn’t watch her during the day, but he usually plays with her while we cook dinner. Lucky girl.

A few minutes later Rochelle (the Stylist) said “wait a minute, did you say you cooked dinner together?”

To which Waldo replied “Yes we do. Christy does most of it but I help.” Lucky me.

Rochelle then asked if we plan the meals together and Waldo explained that we do. I believe at this point she looked at me with big ole bug eyes and I said “I know, I’m really lucky” and I am.

We then went on to talk about how we go grocery shopping together and since we work from home we are together 24/7 and we like it that way.

She asked if we ever just want a break from each other and we told her the truth “no, we like being together”.

And it is completely 100% the truth. We like being together. We can easily do things separately and do on occasion, but for the most part we enjoy each others company and prefer to spend our time together.

During our conversation I said that it probably helps that we were friends for about 12 years before we got together and also that I was in a really bad relationship during 10 of those years so I am completely aware of how lucky I am and don’t take advantage of it.

Lily is lucky to have two parents who enjoying being together and like each other. Waldo and I are lucky to have each other and we know it. We are very lucky people.

In a week in a half we will celebrate our 6th wedding anniversary. I know I’m a little early with this, but happy anniversary Honey, I’ve had the best 6 years of my life and I can’t wait to see what the next 6 and the 6 after that and the 6 after that and 6 after that (and on and on) have in store for us. I love you.

Us, now.

Lily directed art

Last week Lil came up to me with her horses and told me she had an idea, she wanted to stamp with their hooves and tails. I said Sure, why not. So we did.

We went to the craft closet and she handed me bottles of paint and I put it on a paper plate. I asked her what kind of paper she wanted and she informed me that she already had the paper, Silly Mom. Oh, ok. We went to her bench and she set everything up.

She told me to grab a horse or three, after she reminded me of all of their names. I got my two horses and she handed me another and informed me that they were the girl horses and they don’t really get along with the boy horses because the boys are too rowdy. LOL. She then told me to dip the hooves in paint and the have the horses prance across the paper. So I did.

Then she took her turn to do the same and then we went back and forth all over the paper.

I think she really liked being in charge of what we did. I could see the self confidence shining in her eyes and it made me so happy that something so little and easy to do could make Lil so happy.

By the time we got to the second paper she had started to experiment with color combinations and eventually with using other parts of the horses.

Also by the time we got to the second paper I pretty much backed off and let her do all of the painting, I just commented on her work and took pictures.

I can’t wait to see what she comes up with next.

I made shampoo bars. And I love them. So far anyway.

Last Saturday was Waldo’s birthday. He wanted molten lava cake. I had a lot of fun researching recipes and figuring out what I wanted to make. Then we made a test recipe early last week just to make sure it was going to work out. Oh what a week. Let me tell you, molten lava cake rocks.

Lily loved the Lava cake too. We decided to forgo powered sugar on top and whipping cream and had mint brownie ice cream instead.

Lily’s very into dressing herself (when she does get dressed, when we are at home it’s pajamas all the time, which is fine with me) and doing it with style. This was her crazy outfit. Even the shoes don’t match. LOL.

We did some valentine’s stamping the other day. I carved a potato and was very impressed if I do say so myself.

She also stamped with the cut end of a celery bunch. The paint brush was her being silly.

This is Lily and Lucy Buttercup. Lily drew Lucy Buttercup and a robot.

Lily and Teacup. I think the drawing is Lily as a magician and Teacup has bows on her head and tail.
