Lily directed art

Last week Lil came up to me with her horses and told me she had an idea, she wanted to stamp with their hooves and tails. I said Sure, why not. So we did.

We went to the craft closet and she handed me bottles of paint and I put it on a paper plate. I asked her what kind of paper she wanted and she informed me that she already had the paper, Silly Mom. Oh, ok. We went to her bench and she set everything up.

She told me to grab a horse or three, after she reminded me of all of their names. I got my two horses and she handed me another and informed me that they were the girl horses and they don’t really get along with the boy horses because the boys are too rowdy. LOL. She then told me to dip the hooves in paint and the have the horses prance across the paper. So I did.

Then she took her turn to do the same and then we went back and forth all over the paper.

I think she really liked being in charge of what we did. I could see the self confidence shining in her eyes and it made me so happy that something so little and easy to do could make Lil so happy.

By the time we got to the second paper she had started to experiment with color combinations and eventually with using other parts of the horses.

Also by the time we got to the second paper I pretty much backed off and let her do all of the painting, I just commented on her work and took pictures.

I can’t wait to see what she comes up with next.

I made shampoo bars. And I love them. So far anyway.

Last Saturday was Waldo’s birthday. He wanted molten lava cake. I had a lot of fun researching recipes and figuring out what I wanted to make. Then we made a test recipe early last week just to make sure it was going to work out. Oh what a week. Let me tell you, molten lava cake rocks.

Lily loved the Lava cake too. We decided to forgo powered sugar on top and whipping cream and had mint brownie ice cream instead.

Lily’s very into dressing herself (when she does get dressed, when we are at home it’s pajamas all the time, which is fine with me) and doing it with style. This was her crazy outfit. Even the shoes don’t match. LOL.

We did some valentine’s stamping the other day. I carved a potato and was very impressed if I do say so myself.

She also stamped with the cut end of a celery bunch. The paint brush was her being silly.

This is Lily and Lucy Buttercup. Lily drew Lucy Buttercup and a robot.

Lily and Teacup. I think the drawing is Lily as a magician and Teacup has bows on her head and tail.

These pictures are from all over January 2014.

Yesterday morning I wanted to make bread and asked Lil to help me. She dumped some ingredients in and this is the dough after the first rise.

After she put in those few ingredients she wanted to draw. Works for me.

She loves to draw on foil with sharpies.

“A house full of family”

The baked bread. I don’t think any local bakers are going to be worried I’ll take their jobs, but it’s great bread.

Lil buttered some of the homemade bread for dinner.

As an aside, see my cute butter bell? It was a thrift store steal at $1.99. Yay!

Lil called me into the bedroom to see her little house. I can’t decide if Lemon Meringue pissed off the Godfather or if there’s some bestiality going on.

I apparently missed the section in the instruction on how to keep clean while you dyed pasta for crafts.

The other day Lil told me “Mom take a picture of just my eye”

Here’s some fun ice cube painting.

We get all kinds of dressed up to make pizza at our house. Or at least Lil does.

I’m not sure big on the selfie, but I liked my hair this day.

And this one was just for fun.

I don’t know who’s the better sport; Tiger or Papa. Either way Lil’s a lucky girl.

Kitty takes babysitting very seriously.

Lilyisms

I’ve decided that along with lotions, lip balms, heel balms, toothpaste and other body products I wanted to make soap. So my pinterest pins have almost all been soap related lately and I’ve done a lot of video watching of soap making in the last few weeks. Yesterday was my first attempt at soap making and it’s still in the works so I don’t know how it turned out.

Yesterday at breakfast before the Great Soap Adventure started Lily looked at me started the following conversation.

Lil – Mom do you know what I want to be when I get older.

Me – Nope, please tell me.

– A doctor (as per usual) and after that a pet seller (again the usual) and after that a soap maker.

– Oh really, you want to make soap? That’s very cool, well you can certainly help me with the safer parts of the soap process today.

Alright not the most exciting conversation ever to be recorded on the great innerwebs, but I liked it.
