Lily’s playing with the Sandra Boynton book App Blue Hat, Green Hat. I suggest all of you buy this app, it rocks and it’s given me 3 or 4 different 30-45 minute stretches of mostly Mama time.

This is Lily’s newest puppy. His name is Goodbye Puppy. Waldo says he gave her dozens of suggestions for names and finally she said ‘her name is Goodbye Puppy, like Hello Kitty’.

Lily says this is a drawing of me. I think I was having a bad hair day or something.

Lil’s obsessed with bandaging us all up. She’s using blue painters tape. At first she only used little bits on her stuffed animals, her obsession has grown to the adults in our house and very long strips of ‘bandaids’.

I don’t know what’s going on with my face, but Lil decided I was very hurt all over.

We found the world dirtiest ride on toy outside a Rite Aid. This ride was followed by handfuls of hand sanitizer. Yuck.

I like to have Lily decorate envelopes before I send greeting card out. This was a card for my friend Becky.

I broke Lily’s art desk and set out on the great desk search from Craigslist. I found this one, new in the box, but about 10 years old. Whatever it’s new and Lil loves it.

Random Mobile Shots

It’s been a long while since I did a random mobile post so I have a lot of pictures to post. I’m going to try and limit myself a little and start with my most recent random shots.

You want me to go get Artic Circle?

I have no problem with that. See my curtsey cone?

Our garden has exploded. Once the broccoli I planted died my father in law planted some squash and a few other things in the broccoli’s empty space. The squash and whatever else it is is huge and the tomatoes I thought were peppers are in desperate need of a cage of two. They aren’t going to get any cages though so they can continue to be a ground plant. My leaks were a joke. The tops were huge but I planed them WAY too close together so the eatable part of the leak was stunted.

This should illustrate my general lack of knowledge about gardening and things of that nature. I planed sunflower seeds in the pots that the strawberry plants came in. My Father in Law saved them once they started to get overcrowded (which didn’t take long) and planted them in the garden. They really took off at that point.

I made a few bouquets out of them.

My potatoes are doing amazing. In the spring I had a few russets and white potatoes that were sprouting so I cut them up and planted them not really expecting anything much to happen. Boy way I wrong. We dug up all the white potatoes last month and I dug up 3 russets the other day. I was super impressed.

I was going to publish this post as it is, but when I previewed it I realized it looked like Lily wasn’t around. So here’s Lil helping me ‘dish’. It’s what she has started calling doing the dishes.

Nautilus, cuttlefish, and puffins. Oh my.

We have spent just about every Sunday for the past two months going go a combination of the Zoo, the Aquarium, the Discovery Center (science museum) and Botanical Gardens. It has been so much fun.

The last time we went to the aquarium I noticed the Nautilus for the first time. I was mesmerized by them. I took probably over 100 pictures and a video of them. Waldo had to just about drag me away by my arm. There was just something so amazing, intriguing and down right weird about this creature. One was just stuck to the side of the tank, but the other one was putting on a show for me. Lily had no interest and neither did Waldo, but I loved it.

Here’s a pretty long (probably boring) video of the nautilus moving around.

The tank next to the Nautilus was the cuttlefish tank. This little tiny guys are so cute and amazing. They were walking on the bottom of the tank on their little flipper things and they had little ruffley tutu looking things.

Please mute your computer before you watch this cuttlefish video. Waldo and I were talking about the cute little guys before I started recording and we didn’t stop.

After Waldo pulled me away from the nautilus and cuttlefish we looked around at all of the other fish and even let Lil feed some. I don’t like bugs and slimy things so I was very happy when Waldo helped Lil touch the feeding stuff so I didn’t have to touch anything gross.

We were there first thing in the morning so these guys were very happy to be getting fed.

Lil had all of the fish cornered in one little spot because she was just tossing the food in. When some other kids showed up Waldo had Lil toss some of the little shrimpys in front of them so some of the fish would go their way.

These were the food for the puffins and lionfish. See, super gross.

We didn’t end up feeding the lionfish because the staff was doing some work on their tank. Here’s a picture of one just because they are pretty though.

We also saw lots of other creatures. Like the itty bitty teeny tiniest baby chameleons. So cute!

Idaho Aquarium 7-22-12

And Spot Prawns, but I’m pretty sure he’d tell you he was a king prawn.

Idaho Aquarium 7-22-12

And an octopus. He’s the thing in the back corner that looks like a rock. Camouflage is amazing.

See now he’s eye or some other thing is open.

Sharks and rays.

And of course* the seahorses; which have grown a ton since the aquarium opened in December.

While all of the other creatures were neat/pretty/etc my hands down favorite is the nautilus.  Go find one of your own to look upon and I’m betting you will understand too.

* And of course is a total Lilyisms and I think it is so super cute.

Lily and I painted a large canvas for Waldo for Father’s day. Painting her name was her idea and I loved it.

I don’t remember how this started, but it ended with Lily snuggling with her balance bike.

I saw a a picture on Pinterest of a poofball soccer game for kids, but didn’t really take the time to read it. But it seemed like a good idea so the other day I took a small piece of posterboard, drew a line on each end and a circle in the middle and Lily and I spend a bunch of time blowing the poofball across the board with straws. She thought this was the best fun.

The weather has been beautiful so we took advantage of it and had lunch al fresco.

My Mother-in-Law’s heart porch hanging thingy. It shines little bits of light all over the porch and inside the house. At first it was a little annoying seeing the little lights move around out of the corner of my eye, but now I really like it.

Hearts in the sky

Yesterday I needed to clean the bathroom and decided that Lily could help. She loved the idea.

Cool gloves

I clean the bathroom with vinegar and water so I felt she was fine helping. She did the sink while I did the bathtub.

Little helper

A few months ago I bought a sand and water table for Lily and for the first time yesterday I put sand in it. I knew it would make a mess, but figured it wouldn’t be too bad. Boy was I wrong. There was mud all over the back porch within minutes of pouring the sand in the dry side. Lil didn’t’ even play with the water side except to put the water in the sand. she played for a long time and had a lot of fun, but it will be a very long time before we do this again.

Really dirty sand and water table
