Throwback…Monday

I don’t usually do throwback Thursday on Facebook, but really wanted to share these videos. So here’s throwback Monday.

Waldo was organizing some of the folders in his backups and came across videos and pictures from his phones over the years. He called me in to the office to see this gem.

It almost made me cry. It’s a little bitty Lily Bean and I could just smoosh her.

I had him send me the link to the folder he was putting them in so I could share a few. Both of these videos are from May 2011 so Lily was about 2.5.

Easter 2014

Lily and I did a few crafts leading up to Easter, but somehow couldn’t find any of them. Honestly I didn’t work to hard to find them because I figured this post would be picture heavy enough without them. So we’ll start with pictures of painting eggs.

Since we’re moving back to Montana (oh yeah, that’s happening and I’ll try to post about it at some point) I figured I’d get Papa in on our last Easter with him. He was a great sport and joined right in.

For this next egg (which is wooden) I used my trusty glue gun to put 3 flowers on it. I wasn’t sure it would do any good or make any kind of difference, but it turned out really nicely.

Like I said Papa really got into painting the eggs. I wish he’d have done this one on a wooden egg, but at least I got pictures.

Papa’s eggs.

Daddy’s eggs.

I spent so much time handing out eggs and taking pictures that I only painted one egg.

I found some of those egg wraps like I used when I was little and bought them on a whim to see if they worked better or worse than I remember.

To my amazement it worked better. Yay.

On to Easter.

Lily is all about cowgirls right now thanks to Sheriff Callie. We saw these boots on clearance at Target and Lily just had to have them.

We were waiting for Daddy to get downstairs so Lily can go a’ hunting.

This series of pictures just kills me. For some reason Lil sitting on the counter, she just looks so darn big. I don’t know when or how that happened. I certainly didn’t authorize it.

Yay, we finally got outside. This is Lily going through her basket.

Hunting.

I love this crab apple tree in the backyard.

It’s so bright and beautiful.

Papa didn’t get home until the egg hunt was almost over so Lily hid eggs for him. He was again such a good sport and searched out all the eggs.

When Papa was done hunting for eggs we went inside and Lily opened her treasure eggs.

After we were done messing around with eggs we decided to go to a local school so Waldo and Lily could launch the rockets they have been building for the last week or so.

For some unknown reason the rockets didn’t work. So Lily got to play on the playground.

Lily made my birthday special

I turned 38 at the end of March. It was a Monday and Lily was none too pleased when she asked “what special things we were going to do for my birthday” and I told her “nothing until dinner. The rest of the day was going to be normal except for birthday creme brulee after lunch”. Oh No. Lily wasn’t having any of this. She wanted my birthday to be special, like I make her birthdays fun and special. She wouldn’t allow us to go to the library for her little art class even though I begged and pleaded. No way was I going to tell her why I love my Monday morning’s at the library, she gets to do art for about 30 minutes and I get to sit next to a usually sunny window and read my book in relative peace. Bliss. Nope, art is fun for her and we aren’t doing that on my birthday. Fine.

To help make my birthday special Lily decorated the house for me. She asked for the crape paper I keep in the closet and went to town. There was a string of crape paper here and there and a few other on the other wall. This one was my favorite though.

She also made me a wonderful birthday card and best of all a special birthday song and dance.

I made creme brulee for my birthday. I had never had it before, but always wanted to eat it and best of all make it. I mean I got to buy a torch for it. Best thing ever. The creme brulee was amazingly yummy and pretty easy to make.

We did our usual thing and went out to dinner for my birthday. We went to Flatbread Pizza Oven and it was so yummy. I thought I had taken a bunch few pictures, but couldn’t find them. Oh well, who really wants to see our amazing pizza and salad when you could see the pictures we took before we left the house?

Lily and her arm. Silly kid.

Lily insisted that we take a picture with Clarice so we went all out. She was taking the picture so we figured she got to pose us.

Us!

My birthday was very special because I spent it with the ones I love the most. I have no complaints.

My newest kick is making yogurt. I found a nice yogurt maker at a thrift store and my obsession started.
Since we don’t give Lil cow’s milk I started out making rice milk yogurt, that didn’t work so well. Next I tried almond milk yogurt, sill nope. So we decided to try cow’s milk. I mean we give her regular milk yogurt all the time, I just thought it’d be nice to cut out that one last bit of cow’s milk. I can’t be upset about this cool milk container though.

Here’s the milk cooling in the water bath.

The yogurt is still in the maker so I have no idea if it’s going to work or not.

Even though I posted a video of Lil enjoying her french toast I had to include this picture.

We made valentine’s day cookies this week.

Lil insisted that we have lips for valentine’s day. In order to get the lips I had to buy a set with a mustache and glasses. Lil loved them.

The Valentine Princess is busy at work icing cookies.

All the best Valentine Princesses have bunny tails.

Some of our finished cookies.

Waldo wanted a mustache cookie, I traded him for a picture. We decided that he’d make a great cartoon villain. 🙂

Together

Today we all three went to get our hair cut. I was talking with the stylist while she was cutting Waldo’s hair and I was reminded of something; Just how lucky we are.

Both Waldo and I work from home, I know, majorly lucky. I’ve worked from home since Lil was about 6 months old and Waldo has since we left Montana almost 4 years ago. Lily has no idea what it’s like to want to show her Daddy her latest drawing and he’s not around to see it. Lucky!

The stylist asked a question about Lily playing with her Papa (Waldo’s Dad) while we worked and I replied that he doesn’t watch her during the day, but he usually plays with her while we cook dinner. Lucky girl.

A few minutes later Rochelle (the Stylist) said “wait a minute, did you say you cooked dinner together?”

To which Waldo replied “Yes we do. Christy does most of it but I help.” Lucky me.

Rochelle then asked if we plan the meals together and Waldo explained that we do. I believe at this point she looked at me with big ole bug eyes and I said “I know, I’m really lucky” and I am.

We then went on to talk about how we go grocery shopping together and since we work from home we are together 24/7 and we like it that way.

She asked if we ever just want a break from each other and we told her the truth “no, we like being together”.

And it is completely 100% the truth. We like being together. We can easily do things separately and do on occasion, but for the most part we enjoy each others company and prefer to spend our time together.

During our conversation I said that it probably helps that we were friends for about 12 years before we got together and also that I was in a really bad relationship during 10 of those years so I am completely aware of how lucky I am and don’t take advantage of it.

Lily is lucky to have two parents who enjoying being together and like each other. Waldo and I are lucky to have each other and we know it. We are very lucky people.

In a week in a half we will celebrate our 6th wedding anniversary. I know I’m a little early with this, but happy anniversary Honey, I’ve had the best 6 years of my life and I can’t wait to see what the next 6 and the 6 after that and the 6 after that and 6 after that (and on and on) have in store for us. I love you.

Us on our wedding day.

6 years later. (This picture was taking by Lil on Waldo’s birthday 2-1-14)
